The Women's Professional Golf Association (WPGA) was formed as part of The Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) in 1978, but in 1988 its members voted to separate and form an independent company, the Women Professional Golfers' European Tour Limited. This new company moved away from the PGA National Headquarters at The Belfry and set up its own Headquarters at The Tytherington Club in Cheshire. more »
The Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association was founded in 1904 to “further the interests of the Scottish Ladies’ Golf Championship and to be responsible for any deficiency in the funds” (extract from the minute of a meeting held in the St Nicholas Ladies Club House on Saturday 14th May 1904).
In 2006 the members of the Association voted to incorporate and Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association Limited came into being on 1 October that year. This company and its subsidiary, SLGA (Projects) Ltd, collectively known as the SLGA, is the governing body for ladies’, junior and girls’ amateur golf in Scotland. more »
